Erin Sharaf MA,PA-C, completed her physician associate studies at Yale University School of Medicine. She worked as a primary care provider in RI for 10 years. During this time, she realized that many of her patient's visits were stress related. She started exploring ways other than medication to help people deal with life's stressors. Mindfulness seemed to be
the most helpful in empowering people to
heal and cope more effectively with stress,
pain and illness.
Erin participated in a professional training program under the direction of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and has interned with a senior instructor
at the Center for Mindfulness Stress
Reduction Program at UMass Worcester.
She studied with Dr. Jean Kristeller who developed the MB-EAT program. She has had training in the following areas through Mass. General's Mind/Body Medicine Institute at Harvard University:
- mind-body medicine clinical skills
- spirituality and healing in medicine
- meditation and psychotherapy
Wanting to offer her patients more, she completed a master's degree in Integrative Medicine at Lesley University. Erin is currently on the faculty of the Northeastern University Physician Assistant Program where she is the clinical coordinator and clinical instructor. She also works for the Department of Defense performing pre- and post-deployment health assessments for service members.
She is the immediate past president and a board member of the RI Academy of Physician Assistants and is on the editorial review board of the Journal of the American Association of Integrative Medicine.
