Mindfulness-means paying attention in a particular way:
-Jon Kabat-Zinn
Mindful Solutions works with diverse populations of groups and individuals to foster insight and inner wisdom based on mindfulness practices. Through intensive mindfulness practice, we can meet whatever challenges life presents to us with greater equanimity. We create healthier ways to respond to situations rather than our habitual ways of automatically reacting. Program formats vary from the traditional 8- week mindfulness based stress reduction course to a custom designed 1-day workshop.
Research shows that mindfulness practice can be beneficial in a number of medical and psychiatric conditions including:
Most of the people who complete a mindfulness course report:
- increased ability to relax
- greater energy and enthusiasm
- enduring decreases in physical and psychological symptoms
- more effective skills to cope with both short and long- term stress
Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) Next session will start in September 2011 and will be held on Monday evenings. Please see "Classes" for more information.
This powerful course created by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, founder of the University of Massachusetts Medical School's Stress Reduction Clinic, encourages you to actively participate in your health and well being. You will come away with a strong awareness of the interplay between mind and body in health and disease, which is the basis for preventive medicine. With its focus on non-judgmental awareness of our moment-to-moment experience, mindfulness is a natural human capacity that helps access our innate power to heal and to respond more effectively to stress, pain and illness. Establish a strong foundation of self-care skills which can be utilized daily and built upon after the class ends. This highly participatory, life affirming course includes instruction in mindfulness meditation practice, gentle stretching/yoga, inquiry exercises to enhance awareness, group dialogue, daily home assignments, 3 CDs and a workbook.
